Why don’t we make buildings out of earth, mud, soil, clay? It’s cheap, it’s everywhere and (as well as being brown) it’s green. It turns out that it’s not so good at heat insulation - but now a new material, called cobbauge, has been created, which solves the problem. The brilliant Norwich architect Anthony Hudson is building a house from it, and explains it all in this fascinating piece.
