Idea for March 2021: nostos

My idea of the month is nostos.

The ancient Greek concept of home - or more accurately, of returning home, usually after epic struggles in foreign lands. It’s the idea that Shoshana Zuboff uses to kick off The Age of Surveillance Capitalism. ‘Nostalgia’ is literally home-pain (not just a yearning for the past). As the lockdown ends, will we be returning to familiar life, to our former ‘home’? Or will we find home has strangely changed?
