Idea for March 2023: urbex

My idea of the month is urbex

Here are two of my favourite books. What could be more romantic than ‘places where time has stopped’ or ‘the world’s forgotten wonders’? Anyway, Oliver Smith’s book introduced me to the idea of the urbex - the urban explorer out to find these lost locations, and happy to climb walls or descend tunnels to do it. I’m an urbex of the more cautious sort - and also a rurex (or whatever the word is for a rural explorer). There’s a fantastic abandoned airbase near here that I’m keen to explore this summer.
